I hope you have enjoyed my art. I am a retired elementary school art teacher. I paint from life and love the discovery that goes into developing each image. My paintings are not a moment in time but a distillation of discoveries and sensations over time. I have always been most comfortable when completely lost. Each painting begins with confusion and develops as I find first one interesting form and then connect it to the next find. I advise my students not to waste time looking for the perfect scene but rather take a few steps, sit down, and start. Discover where you are, really see it, be only there in that moment. I currently live in St. Louis, Missouri where I focus on urban scenery in my Benton Park neighborhood. I spend each summer in northern Minnesota on the Whiteface Reservoir where I find inspiration in the lush natural landscapes.
